Spier and Mackay Brushed Twill Side-Tabs
At the end of my grad program, you spend a year doing clinical work. Which means dressing up. Every day. I liked the idea of dressing up until I realized how much ironing is involved. A few months in, I gave up and defaulted to a uniform: khaki pants and a blue button-down (No, I'm not Jake from State Farm).
Anecdotally, I wondered if anyone would notice or say anything about the fact that I often would wear the exact same shirt and pants for 3-5 days. With less than a month to go, a patient at the inpatient psychiatric unit finally called me out. I was thrilled. It led to a fascinating discussion of gender norms and clothing--maybe a topic for another day.
One thing I didn't wear? A pair of "berry" red pants.
Since this is Window Shopping, I'm going with the berry red brushed twill side-tab trousers from Spier and Mackay. If I were actually buying them, I'd likely go with the safer blue pair. But I'm not, so let's live a little.
Side-tab trousers are just cool. No boring belt loops--just side-tabs to fine-tune the fit. There's probably a limit to how oversized they can be before the tabs stop working, but I'm not here to test that. I just know they look effortlessly cool. Something James Bond would wear.
And check out that fabric. The macro shot? Full of texture and character (see pictures below). I might have the guts to go with the rust colorway in real life. But for Window Shopping, I'm sticking with the fun, in-your-face berry trouser.
Pair with a white button-down--I know, I'm a coward--and either dress shoes for a formal look or plain white sneakers to keep it casual(my favorites, but only the lux version now).
